  • Photo of Charles Stanley Bascom– Charles Stanley Bascom, was born May 12, 1920 in Stirling, Alberta, the son of former Utah lawman John W. Bascom and Ada Romeril Bascom. Charles joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, working as an airplane mechanic, stationed near Columbo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka).  He died on Dec. 3, 1944 having saved one airman's life from drowning but dying trying to save another.
