Mt. Prevost Memorial Park was dedicated on November 9, 1982, in memory of those who kept Canada free. Yvonne Sturhahn, president of the Cowichan Valley Naturalists, and Gerry Wright, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53 president, oversaw the unveiling of the park sign. The Cowichan Valley Naturalists pushed hard for establishing the park with supported from the Royal Canadian Legion, Cowichan Valley Historical Society and other local groups.
