Thursday, February 1, 1917 - Rose 8:00 Breakfast 8:30 Parade 9:00 Flying 1 ½ hrs now snowing. 3 Beatty machines crashed none injured. My machine crashed to kindling wood.

Friday, February 2, 1917 - Rose 8:00 Breakfast 8:30 48 minutes Dual Caudron Flying 40 - 50 straight. 2 L&P buses crashed Just heard 12 of each school is to remain here and rest go elsewhere.

Saturday, February 3, 1917 - Rose 7:00 Breakfast 8:00 Parade 9:00 Machine Guns 11 -12:30 15 min Dual Flying Caudron 40 - 50. Gardner had very bad crash taking ticket He's in hospital. My 20th birthday! And what a place to spend it. God grant this terrible war is over next year at this time and I'm home again. No mail. 10:10 Just retiring. Good night.

Sunday, February 4, 1917 - Rose 10:00 am Breakfast 10:20 Mass 11:00 went skating at Regent's Park & Hyde Park. Met Messrs Stanford & Hurthin 9:35 Just retiring wrote A. Boon

Monday, February 5, 1917 - Rose 8:00 Breakfast 8:30 Parade 9:00 Machine Guns No mail. Retired 10:30 PM

Tuesday, February 6, 1917 - Rose 8:00 Breakfast 8:30 Parade 9:00 Machine Guns 11 - 12:30 Went to dentist. Had gum cut. Went skating at regent's Park. Letter from Mrs. Mellish & Mr. Moore. Retiring early. No mail from home in long while worrying.

Wednesday, February 7, 1917 - Sick in bed with sore gum. Rose 3:30 pm went to Cricklewood & got medicine. Rc'd telegram from Raymond. Arrived safely. Mat God protect him.

Thursday, February 8, 1917 - Stayed in bed until 10:00 am. My servant informed me I was ordered to proceed to Northolt~ (Ruislip Middlesex) for further instructional flying. Passed Vickers exam I missed before & Lewis except care & cleaning. Tender drove AW Little & myself to Northolt. I am rooming with Little in hut. Have a stupid batman. Wrote Mary, Mother & Father & Yale.

Friday, February 9, 1917 - Rose 7:00 Breakfast 8:00 No Flying. Rc'd telegram from Raymond.

Saturday, February 10, 1917 - Rose 8:00 Breakfast 7:30 Received permission for leave until Sunday Midnight. Arrived Westinghagir 4:09 PM Met Ray & spent pleasant day the C.A.W.E. staff put me up for night & sent me in an excellent supper 10PM Rc'd letters fro Sis Mother Yale Loretto Winnie Stevens

Sunday, February 11, 1917 - Rose 7:30am 8:00 went to mass & Holy Communion in chapel in a barn. Saw Ray's C.O. Had him passed M.O. o/c. Major McDonald (C.O) is giving Ray a recommendation for transfer to RFC. I reached here 11:45 Left Ray 6:00 pm Rc'd letter & cheques from A.Boon

Monday, February 12, 1917 - Rose 7:15 Flying Maurice Farman shorthorn 30 minutes - I like it fairly well. Letter from Mother. Retired early.

Tuesday, February 13, 1917 - Rose 6:30 Station Orderly Officer. Inspected guard at 10 am 10:45 am & 11am. Inspected rations, huts, parades etc. Retired 1:45 am.

Wednesday, February 14, 1917 - Rose 7:30 Breakfast 8:15 Letters from Beatty, Cox & Co., Mary Higgins, Yale. No flying. Went to dinner in Harrow & went to cinema after. Retired 12:30.

Thursday, February 15, 1917 - Rose 7:45 Breakfast 8:15. Letter from Baby & Aloysius & Florence. No flying. Went to Hendon & got my music with Little went to Kilburn Empire. 1:00 Just retiring.

Friday, February 16, 1917 - Rose 7:45 Breakfast 8:15. No flying. Have a bad cold. Letter from J.S. Moore & Hook---- & Co. Retired 10:15

Saturday, February 17, 1917 - Rose 7:45 Breakfast 8:15 Letters from Miss Strong. Went in to see Mr. Moore. Spent a couple of hours with him at Bedford Hotel, Southampton Row. Met Julia. Letters from Ray & Mother. I did no flying today.

Sunday, February 18, 1917 - Rose 7:30 Breakfast 8:00 Went to 11:00 mass at Harrow. No flying. Letters from Yale & Auntie Dominica. Wrote Vincent Quarry, Major MacDonal, Raymond, Mother & Yale, N. Kelk. 10:15 P.M. Just retiring.

Monday, February 19, 1917 - Rose 7:35 Breakfast 8:10 No mail. 35 minutes Maurice Farman Shorthorn #A2188 with Capt. Cole Hamilton. 9:00 Retiring. Wrote Tommy Seales

Tuesday, February 20, 1917 - Rose 7:30 Breakfast 8:15 No mail. No flying. Wrote M & F, Ray, Yale, Mrs. Mellish. Retired early

Wednesday, February 21, 1917 - Rose 7:00 Breakfast 7:30 No drill. Flying CCH, MFSH 70 Reno A909 4:55 5:05 ----- lifting. No mail. Went to harrow 6:30 PM benediction, stations of cross, ashes. 10:50 retiring.

Thursday, February 22, 1917 - Rose 7:30 Breakfast 8:00 Letter from Mrs. Mellish. Flying DH Retired early

Friday, February 23, 1917 - Rose 7:15 Breakfast 7:45 Flying 15 minutes. No mail. Retired early.

Saturday, February 24, 1917 - Rose 7:15 Breakfast 7:35 Letters from Ray, Helen Sullivan, DVB, J.S. Moore. Orderly Officer in waiting did 20 mins. 10:00 Retiring. Station Orderly Officer tomorrow can't get to mass.

Sunday, February 25, 1917 - Rose 6:30 Station Officer for day. Inspected meds breakfast at 7:30. Turned out guard 10:15 Inspected dinner 12:30 PM. Unable to get to mass. No mail.

Monday, February 26, 1917 - Rose 7:30 am Flying. Reveived letters from Mother, Jack McI & Jim Muir. My chum John Fry of Toronto was killed on (about) Feb 21 at Central Flying School, Upavon. The last time I saw him alive was at Regent Palace Hotel on Xmas 1916. I can hardly believe he is dead. I chumed with him all the time at Oxford. He was killed flying a DeHaviland Scout.

Tuesday, February 27, 1917 - Rose 7:30 Flying 5- minutes. Squadron Orderly wrote letter to Jack & Mary. Received letter from Ray. He is down with mumps. Retired early.

Wednesday, February 28, 1917 - Rose 7:30 Flying 15 minutes. Bumpy up. Letter from Aloysius & baby that was mailed Dec. 6/16. Sent to wrong address. Took tender into Harrow & return 11:40 PM. Just going to say my prayers & get into bed.
