On September 29, 1922, the Church of the Messiah dedicated a new parish hall in thankfulness for the conclusion of the First World War. It was dedicated by Bishop Sweeny. The hall at 240 Avenue Road was destroyed in a fire in 1976.

At St. Edmund’s Church, a bronze plaque was unveiled on the baptistry wall in memory of Private William Hesmonhalgh Blenkhorn who lost his life in the First World War. The plaque was dedicated to the church by his family.

William was born on March 14, 1897, in East Lancaster, England to Matthias and Louisa Blenkhorn. The family moved to Toronto, Ontario, when he was young, and he worked as a machinist when he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on March 20, 1915. He served in the 25th Battalion and was killed on June 12, 1918, near Arras when he was struck by shrapnel.

On June 15, 1919, a tablet in memory of Major Arthur William Ellis was unveiled by his mother, Margaret Ellis at the Church of the Epiphany. Major Ellis, 19th Battalion, died from his wounds on Easter Monday, 1917, four days after leading his men at Vimy, France.

On May 15, 1920, a plaque was unveiled at Holy Trinity church in memory of Private Cecil Austin Bell, who was killed on September 30, 1918, while serving with the 75th Battalion.

A Roll of Honour was erected by the congregation of Morningside Presbyterian Church in memory of parishioners who served in the Second World War.

This style of an Honour Roll was designed by A.J. Casson when he worked at Sampson-Matthews, a prominent midtown Toronto lithography and commercial art company. It is not known when it was unveiled.

In 1991 Simpson Avenue United amalgamated with Glen Rhodes United Church and the property was subsequently sold to the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.

The church was located at 2029 Gerrard Street East. In 1984, the congregation amalgamated with Rhodes Avenue United Church to form Glen Rhodes United Church in the Rhodes Avenue building. In 2018, Eastminster United joined with Cosburn United and Glen Rhodes United to become East End United Regional Ministry.
