Off to Hong Kong
Heroes Remember
Transcript
I think we all took it more or less in
stride because of the fact that
we were actually ignorant of what was
going to happen or where we were
going or what we were going for
so I think it was actually,
I think most of us
after we got to Vancouver,
going into the Pacific we figured well
this is another garrison job,
there's no war in the Pacific.
So that was sort of a, you know,
we threw our hands up and said now
we're on another mission to somewhere
but we don't know where but it's probably
garrison duty again.
I guess we were somewhere
somewhere in the Pacific when we
were finally told that we were
going to Hong Kong.
I didn't know anything about Hong Kong,
of course, and I don't think that there
was any real reaction,
except for the fact that we,
it was pretty well certain then that it
was another garrison duty because
you know this was Hong Kong,
we knew enough about
Hong Kong but we knew that it was
a British colony and a
British dependency so I guess that was
just about the reaction from most
of us and we didn't have too much
time to think too much about it,
we were too busy beefing about
the mutton and stuff that
they fed us on the boat.
