New Environment can be Difficult
Invictus Games
I knew that day was coming with medically
released and that was fine with me.
I was down a different path now away so
I was given a chance to have schooling
paid for me through SISIP Program so
I went and went into college.
But I found what was difficult was after
injury and those three years til 2000,
but then after 2000 when I was medically
released and out, released from the military
and away from the military that’s when I
found it difficult because you are not in that
environment anymore and it’s such a
close-knit, tight unit that once you’re
gone from it, it’s away.
After injury I went in as a golf profession so
I was a professional golfer and it was a lot
of work through rehab because I picked golf
and it’s a great sport for me cause it helped
with of course stability and getting myself out,
out of the house so I wasn’t stuck in the
house anymore. So that journey to the
point now, you know, it’s twenty years this
year that I was injured,
coming up in November. To be chosen to be
an assistant, sorry, the coach of the golf
team for these injured soldiers that are
participating in the Invictus Games,
I can see in a lot of them what
I went through maybe fifteen years ago.
