Vancouver, British Columbia March 29, 2019 A pair of combat boots began their train journey across the country symbolizing the many Canadians who undertook a similar journey during the Second World War to serve our country. Churchill, Manitoba April 2 Edmonton, Alberta April 24 Jasper, Alberta April 30 17 community events from coast to coast. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan May 3 Winnipeg, Manitoba May 8 Volunteers making a journey more than 3000 miles from home to fight for a cause they know is just. Toronto, Ontario May 15 Victoria, British Columbia May 17 Kingston, Ontario May 18 The events highlight the long journeys that service members took to Halifax where they sailed across the Atlantic to join our Allies bravely fighting for freedom in Europe. Campbellton, Bathurst and Miramichi, New Brunswick May 23 Corner Brook, Newfoundland May 23 Now, ready to leave for embarkation points, they go to swell the increasing numbers of United Nation forces gathering for the big thrust upon the Nazi held continent. Trainloads of Canadian built tanks follow the troops to the coast. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island May 23 Québec City, Québec May 26 More than 5000 kilometres travelled. That’s a wrap on our Journey Across Canada! The combat boots began their train journey in Vancouver and travelled over 5000 km to 17 different communities from coast to coast ending in Halifax, where many soldiers sailed across the Atlantic to join our Allies bravely fighting for freedom in Europe. Thank you to everyone who joined us along the way and helped commemorate the Canadians who sacrificed so much to defend peace and freedom during the Second World War.
