I Lived the Dream

Heroes Remember

What else can you say, I mean you do your thing. I lived the dream. Seventeen years old carrying a fully automatic machine gun. I mean....what young fellow out there doesn’t want to do that of course. I think serving the country is probably the greatest thing you can possibly do. If nothing else I’ve ever accomplished in my life, I’ve always got that on my resume. I think the Canadian Forces, there’s nothing wrong with a little discipline, there’s nothing wrong with the skills that you develop, your leadership skills, your ability to speak, your ability to, if nothing else it helps you stand up straight. I mean, to me there’s no greater honour than serving your country working for your country. And today’s kids, I mean we’ve got the internet now, we’ve got tv, you got a 100 channels on tv now. They know what’s going on. It’s not like they’re going into this blind as they used to be. Afghanistan now, you see it at least a couple a times a day on tv, or what have you. The newspapers are covering it. I think today’s kids, I think they should look at it and say, you know what, it’s not a bad thing. It’s a great honour to serve, the skill sets you learn, absolutely, you’ll never get them anywhere else.
