Ceremony begins at 10:10am.

We are forever grateful to those who have served and those who continue to serve today – we will never forget. On November 11, the Field of Crosses will be commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) and the 80th Anniversary of D Day. April 1, 2024 marked the 100 years of service for the RCAF as a distinct miliary element. For a century the RCAF have defended Canada, its people, allies and interests. June 6, 2024, marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day. On this day, Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy (France) to open the way to Germany from the West. Victory in the Normandy campaign would come at a terrible cost. The Canadians suffered the most casualties of any division in the British Army Group.

Along Memorial Drive there is a military march past with pipes and drums. The Calgary Police Services bring their mounted horse patrol, the Royal Canadian Air Force (weather permitting) conduct a fly-past with either a fighter jet or a Globe Master transport plane from Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Cold Lake. Dignitaries, such as the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the Premier of Alberta and the Mayor of Calgary, along with many other provincial and civic dignitaries, have attended this ceremony in the past.

After the ceremony, members of the public are welcome to walk amongst the crosses all day long.
