Details

On Indigenous Veterans Day, the City plans to honour those brave individuals who served through the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, peacekeeping missions around the world, and who continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces, in a ceremony that will include traditional ways of honouring warriors from First Nations, Métis, Inuit, as well as non-status Indigenous veterans who served.

Led by Grandmother Vivian Recollet and in the presence of the Toronto Council Fire Eagle Staff, the ceremony will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Toronto City Hall.

It will start outdoors with a sacred fire to welcome the ancestors – the warriors that have gone before us – and continue with the sharing of stories about Canada’s Indigenous military history, and those who have served and continue to serve. All are welcome to attend.
