Gosport Cemetery
In the years following World War II, many Canadian military members served with units of the British Military. As was the situation with the Canadians serving in continental Europe, there were deaths among its members - many from training accidents. The Canadian military members were buried in cemeteries throughout the United Kingdom, generally close to where they died.
Gosport is located across Portsmouth Harbour from Portsmouth. Scores of historic buildings and attractions are the legacy of Gosport’s military history. During the Second World War, Gosport played a major role in its support of British naval operations. Gosport suffered considerable war damage and it was an embarkation point for D-Day landings in France.
Haslar Cemetery, located on Clayhall Road, is a British Navy cemetery. Two Canadians are buried in the cemetery and their graves are maintained by the British Navy.
