Hargeisa lies 204 kilometres from the chief port of Berbera. The Memorial stands in Hargeisa War Cemetery which is 8 kilometres from the airport on the banks of the river and less than half a kilometre from Government House. The Hargeisa Memorial and the Berbera Memorial will also be found in the cemetery.
