Location:

The town of Noordwijk is 32 kilometres north-north-east of The Hague and about 7 kilometres west of the main road from The Hague to Haarlem. The NOORDWIJK GENERAL CEMETERY is a little to the west of Noordwijk on the outskirts of the coastal village of Noordwijk-Aan-Zee. The British Plot is situated in abelt of trees overlooking the remainder of the cemetery.

  • Photo of Lionel Williams– Williams, Lionel Harry - Flight Sergeant. Born 30th December, 1917, at Medicine Hat, Alta. Educated at Calgary, Alta., and Ladysmith, B.C. Entered the service of the Bank 26th May, 1938. Served at branches in British Columbia. Enlisted 21st July, 1941, from Oliver in R.C.A.F. Sergeant 31st January, 1942; Flight Sergeant in August, 1942. Trained at Edmonton and Calgary, Alta., Winnipeg, and Fingal, Ont. Overseas in February, 1942.  Posthumously awarded by Chief of Air Staff R.C.A.F. Operational Wing for gallant services in action against the enemy.  Missing after air attack on Krefeld, Germany, on 2nd October, 1942.  Officially presumed dead 25th September, 1943.
