Son of John and Agness Johnston Hannay, of McGee, Saskatchewan. Hannay Bay was named after Albert Edward. Hannay Island was named for his brother Gunner (67 Light Anti-Aircraft Battery) Hugh Halbert Hannay (b. 1916) of McGee, died 1951-06-12. He was a casualty at Caen and died of his wounds seven years later.
