Baptized Antoine Alfred Charlebois, he served as Fred.
Son of Alexandre Charlebois and Marie Dazé. Brother of Joseph Charlebois of Monettville, Ontario.
He was conscripted on 7 November 1917 and enlisted on 25 February 1918 in the 2nd Central Ontario Regiment of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Posted to the 2nd Battalion Depot of the 2nd Quebec Regiment on 9 March 1918, he embarked for England on 9 May, arriving on 24 May. That same day, he was transferred to the 23rd Reserve Battalion, then to the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles. He arrived in France on 9 September and was transferred to the 22nd Battalion on the 11th, moving to the front line on the 12th. On 14 October 1918, he was wounded in action at the Canal du Nord during the Battle of Cambrai. Admitted to the 5th Canadian General Hospital in Rouen, Normandy, he died there on the 18th.

The St. Sever Cemetery and Extension (Rouen) is situated about 3 kilometres south of Rouen Cathedral and a short distance west of the road from Rouen to Elbeuf. If travelling from Elbeuf or Caen on the N.138, follow Avenue Des Canadiens right down to the roundabout. Then take the fourth exit into Rue Stanislas De Jardin, and the cemetery lies 150 metres on the left. The CWGC signpost is located at the entrance of the cemetery. The cemetery covers an area of 49,885 square metres. The War Stone is on the boundary of the original Cemetery and the Extension, facing the City of Rouen War Memorial. The Cross is raised on a terrace on the further side of the Extension. The Chapel, cruciform and surmounted by a dome, is in the middle of the Extension.
