Son of Joseph Savoie (alias Savoy) and Isabella Bourque.
Enrolled with the Saint John Fusiliers (MG), he served in New Brunswick, was assigned to the Carleton and York Regiment on 25 June 1940, served in Nova Scotia, deployed to the 1st Battalion, Royal Rifles of Canada, on 28 November 1940 to serve in Newfoundland with Force W, in Hong Kong with Force C and in Japan as prisoner of war.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
