Location:

Jurby is a village on the north-west coast of the Island and is reached from Ramsey, a seaport on the north-east coast six miles distant. The church of St. Patrick is the parish church of Jurby, and the churchyard is the parish burial ground, the Authority in which it is vested being the Incumbent and Churchwardens. It lies in an isolated position on the sea-coast, some way from the village, and covers one-and-a-half acres.

Robert enlisted at Swift Current in Dec. 1940, and trained at Dauphin, High River and MacLeod. He was born in Abbey, Sk., July 23, 1919. He went overseas in January 1942. He was killed in an accident when a bomber which he was piloting crashed during a storm over the Isle of Man, on the morning of the Dieppe assault August 19, 1942. He was buried at Jurby, Aug 23, 1942 on th Isle of Man.
   Before he enlisted Robert worked on a farm in Manitoba and previously attended high school in Abbey. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jones, four brothers, Edward and John in the RCA; Richard, RCAF; and James in Abbey. Also a sister Ethel, RN., of Lloydminster.
