"Husband of Mrs. Phyllis Ellaine Alford. Son of Mr. Geoffry Daniel Alford and Mrs. Ruby Hubbard (nee Henderson) Alford, Red Deer, Alberta. He also served in the Second World War (M-1769).

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.

  • Close up of Korean War Memorial– Detail of the Korean War Monument in Ottawa.   This features a Canadian soldier, facing toward Busan, Korea, where an identical monument watches over the graves of 378 Canadians in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery. Accompanying the volunteer are two Korean children, both holding symbols: the girl, a bouquet of maple leaves symbolizing Canada; and the boy, a bouquet of maple leaves and roses of Sharon, the national flower of Korea.

  • Inscription– Private CHARLES MILTON ALFORD is one of 23 soldiers commemorated on this panel of  the Korean War Monument in Ottawa and one of the 516 soldiers whose names appear on the monument.  It was erected  IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE CANADIANS WHO DIED IN SERVICE DURING THE KOREAN WAR 1950-1953 AND ON KOREAN PEACE KEEPING DUTIES, 1953-1957.  Private Alford died on September 27, 1951 and is buried in  the YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY in Japan.
