Son of John and Georgina B. Farquhar, of Wick, Caithness, Scotland; husband of Isabella Tait Bain Farquhar (deceased 12 August 1915). He enlisted in the 12th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Father of John B. Farquhar of McMillar House, Wick, Scotland and Roy, Bruce, Vina, Marvin and Donald if Calgary, Alberta, Canada who were placed under the guardianship of James P. and Barbara Bain, Calgary, Alberta, after the death of their mother. Private Farquhar listed his civilian occupation as carpenter.

Location:

Maple Copse Cemetery is located 5 Km south east of Ieper town centre, a road leading from the Meenseweg (N8), connecting Ieper to Menen. From Ieper town centre the Meenseweg is located via Torhoutstraat and right onto Basculestraat. Basculestraat ends at a main cross roads, directly over which begins the Meenseweg. 2.5 Km along the Meenseweg shortly after the Birr Cross Roads Cemetery, lies the right hand turning onto Wulvestraat. About 1 Km along the Wulvestraat is the left hand turning onto Schachteweidestraat. The cemetery itself is located 2 Km along the Schachteweidestraat on the right hand side of the road.
