  • Close up– Please note the different spelling of the surname. He lost his life whilst gallantly rescuing a comrade from Pollan Bay, County Donegal. The crest at the top of his headstone states "This headstone was erected by the officers, nco's and men of his Battalion." It is not known whether he received a posthumous award. Pollan Bay is known locally as having severe rip tides.
