Location:

Wimereux is a small town situated about 5 kilometres north of Boulogne. From Boulogne take the A16 to Calais and come off at Junction 4. Take the road to Wimereux north, D242, for approximately 2 kilometres, following the road through the roundabout. Take the first turn on the left immediately after the roundabout and the WIMEREUX COMMUNAL CEMETERY lies approximately 200 metres down this road on the left hand side. The Commonwealth War Graves are situated to the rear of the communal cemetery.

  • Newspaper Clipping– Pte. Alfred Stevens enlisted in the First Canadian Contingent at Valcartier Camp, Quebec, on September 20th, 1914.  He was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.  He indicated on his military attestation that he had 12 years prior experience with the Highland Light Infantry.
  • Memorial– One of two memorial plaques dedicated on 24 April 2010 to commemorate those members of the 15th Battalion (48th Highlanders of Canada) who fell during the Battle of 2nd Ypres 22-26 April 1915.  This memorial plaque is located on Gravenstafel Ridge.  Submitted by Captain (retired) V Goldman, 15th Bn Memorial Project.  DILEAS GU BRATH
