This memorial is dedicated to James Clyde Wilson. The cast bronze plaque is surmounted by the crest of III Battalion, Royal Regiment of Canada, Toronto.
Son of John Wilson, a hotelkeeper, and his wife Jane. The family were parishioners of St. James.
Following attendance at Perth Collegiate Institute, James enlisted on January 10, 1916, and went overseas later that year with the 130th Battalion. In England the unit was broken up and he was transferred to the 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Canada, with which he saw considerable service on the Western Front including the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April, 1917. Following Vimy, James participated in the battles of Langemerck, MeninRoad Bridge, Polygon Wood, Broodeseinde, and Poelcappelle. He lost his life in action at the battle of Passchendaele.
James is also commemorated on the St. James Parish First World War Plaque.
