Special Connection to PPCLI

So when I joined my choice was to go into infantry just like my father. I put down to be a Patricia because it was in the family. Also, personally I have a little bit more personal history with the regiment as well. My dad was a personal escort for Lady Patricia back in the 80’s and my mom and my dad got to travel around Canada with them because my mom being a nurse and she traveled with her father who was Lord Mountbatten and he was a bit, he was getting there in age so they required a medical assistant. So my mom was able to go as a nurse. They stayed really good friends all through the years. They would send family Christmas cards to us and birthday cards. And then later he was killed by the IRA on his personal yacht and her son was also killed during the attack. And when my parents found out about that they were quite sad about it. She was injured too. After a couple years went by I was born so my parents decided to name me after her son that was killed. So I joined in 2003. I completed my basic military training and then went to CFB Wainwright and completed my soldier qualification and then my battle school after that. And then after graduation I went to Shilo, Manitoba as a member of The 2nd battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.
