The cook aboard was Dave Fordsythe at this time. The cook had a violin so we went ashore, sure enough I saw a guitar, I was playing the guitar at that time. So of course, in time we entertained the crew and we entertained the officers and any visitors that were aboard. So I remember that quite well. Yeah, our trip to Malta.

Mr. Rogers recalls one of his happiest memories aboard a ship during his service.

Eli Rogers

Eli Rogers was born in Newfoundland on February 16, 1919. The son of a locomotive engineer he enlisted with the Navy when he was 21 years old. Mr. Rogers served on many ships in the Navy with the Royal Navy Rescue unit.
