À l’origine, ces monuments ont été érigés sur la crête de Vimy par le 46e Bataillon, en 1917. Ils ont été rapatriés au Canada et placés dans la St. John’s Anglican Church, à Moose Jaw, en Saskatchewan, le 25 mai 1930. Ils ont ensuite été transportés au manège militaire David Currie, V.C., où ils sont exposés depuis.

GREAT WAR.
"4TH AUG. 1914 TO 11TH NOV. 1918 -
This Cross was constructed
by the Pioneer section of
the 46th Battalion, C.E.F.
at the Village of Carency,
France, after the Battle
of Vimy Ridge, to commem-
orate those of the
Battalion who paid the supreme sacrifice during
the engagement.
It was placed on the
Ridge at night during
the latter part of June,
1917, with a dedication
service conducted by the
Chaplain and stood at
the "Pimple", a strongly
fortified knoll, bristling
with machine guns on the
North of Vimy Ridge. This
part of the Ridge was held
by the Germans until the
12TH of April, 1917, when it
was captured by the
46TH Battalion.
The stand on the
"Pimple" was the last stand
of the Germans on Vimy
Ridge.
The Cross remained there until after the
Armistice. When the
Dominion of Canada erected
a permanent memorial
before the Canadian Corps,
it was sent to Moose Jaw
and finally place in this
Church May 25TH 1930,
with a special service
largely attended by the
members of the 46TH
Battalion residing in
Moose Jaw and district.
This Cross is made of
oak taken from a chateau
demolished by shell fire
in Ecurie Village.
It is regrettable that one
of the panels, containing
names of the killed is
missing.
