Avenue Memorial

In 1999, it was determined to rectify duplication of street names within settlements with in Waterloo Region. There was duplication of King Street across the Region and King Street in Elmira needed to be changed.  With the location of the cenotaph at the corner of King and Arthur Streets, the name Memorial Avenue was suggested to commemorate Veterans. The Legion assisted the Township to have a poppy placed on the road sign.
