En 2015, la North Ridge Development Corp. a organisé un concours visant à trouver un nom à son nouveau projet de construction de maisons de ville dans l’îlot 3200 de la 11e rue ouest. Dalton Males, d’Ortona Street, a remporté le concours avec sa suggestion de Highlander Ridge. Le nom rend hommage au Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, un régiment d’infanterie basé à Vancouver qui a combattu en Sicile, en Italie, et lors de la libération des Pays-Bas au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Seaforth Highlanders of Canada

North Ridge named this neighbourhood development Highlander Ridge
to honour the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. The Seaforth Highlanders
regiment was formed in 1910 and served overseas in both World War I and
World War II. Of particular significance was their involvement in liberating
the Netherlands during World War II. Members of the Seaforth Highlanders
have been deployed on many missions since World War II including Korea,
Egypt, Cyprus and most recently, Afghanistan. North Ridge is pleased to be
able to honour the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada to thank them for their
service to Canada.
