917 Lt Francis Fyshe (RMC 1911-1914) was born 07/12/1894, the son of Thomas and Avis Leonoweus Fyshe of Montreal, Quebec. He studied at Creighton School. At RMC, his nickname was 'Bass'. He played on the RMC football team, hockey team, gym squad and he was a member of the Stone Frigate Staff. When he enlisted with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in 1914 at 20 years of age he listed his occupation as student. He served with the Canadian Field Artillery, 2nd Battalion. He died on Nov 27, 1915, a casualty of the First World War, and was buried at A. 7. in the Maple Leaf Cemetery in 14 Km south of Ieper town centre, Belgium. He is commemorated on Page 15 of the First World War Book of Remembrance.

On their 50th anniversary, the class of 1915 at the Royal Military College of Canada have placed this memorial stained glass window to honour their fallen comrades.

CIMETIÈRE DE LA FEUILLE D'ÉRABLE Belgique
Le cimetière de la feuille d'érable est situé à 14 kilomètres au sud du centre-ville d'Ypres, sur une route qui mène à la Rijselseweg (N365), qui va d'Ypres à Wijtschate, à Mesin, à Ploegsteert et vers Armentières.
À partir du centre-ville d'Ypres, prenez la Rijselsestraat en partant de la place du marché, en traversant la porte de Lille (Rijselpoort) et en passant au-dessus des carrefours comprenant la route périphérique d'Ypres. Le nom de la route devient alors Rijselseweg.
En arrivant au village de Ploegsteert, tournez à droite à l'église sur la rue du Romarin. Au bout de cette rue, tournez à gauche sur la Niepkerkestraat (faites 50 mètres seulement), puis tournez à droite sur la Zakstraat. Le cimetière se trouve à 50 mètres.
