Private Walter Hickmott was born on January 16th, 1897, on a farm north of Kingsville, Ontario. On January 7th, 1916 he enlisted with the 99th Battalion, Essex Regimament, just shy of his 19th birthday. He Arrived in England June 8th, 1916 and was assigned to the 19th Battalion CEF and proceeded to France in Sept. of 1916. During the fighting he recived a gunshot wound to the right arm. After recovering in December 1917 he re-embarked to France. He was "slightly wounded" in March 1918 (shrapnel wound). He returned to duty one week later. At approximately noon on Tuesday, April 16th, 1918, while repelling a German attack on their trench, he was fatally wounded and killed in action. Lest We Forget.

CIMETIÈRE MILITAIRE DE BELLACOURT Pas de Calais, France
Bellacourt est un village du département du Pas-de-Calais dans la commune de Rivière, à 10 kilomètres au sud-ouest d'Arras.
Prenez la route principale allant d'Arras à Coullens (N25) jusqu'à Beaumetz-les-Loges. Suivez ensuite la route D34 qui mène à Rivière, prenez l'embranchement à droite sur la route D7, toujours en direction de Rivière, et tournez à gauche vers le cimetière, comme l'indique le panneau de la Commission des sépultures de guerre du Commonwealth.
