With two tours of duty under his belt and orders to return to Canada, he was called on to make one last mission. The mission was short one crew member. This turned out to be his last flight. He had been engaged to a British women and when he died she returned the engagement ring to Hugh's Mother. Fifty-five years later while she was visiting Canada the family gave the ring back to her.
