John was born in Crystal Beach, Ontario on March 19, 1919. He attended primary and secondary schools in Ridgeway Ontario. He was an avid participant in sports, especially soccer and hockey. In 1940, John enlisted in the RCAF. He progressed through training and received his Wings, on August 20, 1941 in Dunnville Ontario. On September 14, 1941 he sailed from Halifax, to the UK aboard the Empress of Asia. John was assigned to RAF Spitfire Squadron 134 in Northern Ireland. In March 1942, he was transferred to RAF Hurricane Squadron 213 in North Africa. On November 18, 1942 his aircraft was downed by ground fire and he died on the way to hospital. He is fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters; George, Norman(Bud), Louise, Ruth, JoAnne. and their extended families.

CIMETIÈRE DE GUERRE DE BENGHAZI Jamahiriya arabe libyenne
Le cimetière de guerre de Benghazi est à 7 kilomètres environ au sud-est de Benghazi. Pour s'y rendre, prenez la route principale vers l'ouest jusqu'à la route périphérique. Le cimetière est à un kilomètre environ plus loin sur cette route, à droite.
