Interviewer: I guess VJ Day would have been the big day for you then, because that was ... you knew it was all over. What was that day like? That was ... oh well ... that was pretty rough. Pretty rough time.Interviewer: I know that there was riot.Yeah, well I was in on it, but I wasn’t looting... no part of it.Interviewer: But you saw it? I saw it.Interviewer: Well, paint me a picture of what that riot was like. Paint me a picture.That riot? It was unbelievable. That anybody would be ... well, not to run down the sailors or anything, but the sailors was used very dirty there. They had to buy their uniforms there, apparently. They used them. Each man was allotted so much for uniforms and clothing and they was charged a lot more than they were supposed to, apparently. And they had all this here ill feelings. They said if they ever got back, they’d clean it. So, that’s what pretty near happened. It was ... it was terrible.
