Description
Ms. Carter describes the joyous mob in Trafalgar square on VE Day.
Transcription
I was in London for VE day, caught up in all that mob and you know where that Albert, Victorian Albert Monument is? I got lost from my friend and there I was. I was almost in panic and a British soldier said, “I'm gonna put you up there,” and it was right beside one of the lions so he said, “You can look all around and if you see where your friends are, you can point them out to me and I'll go and tell them where you are.” Which he did, very nice of him, but it was a tremendous day, tremendous thing in London. I wouldn't of missed that for anything. It was amazing, you know, the Royal family out on the balcony there and Churchill, it was really a great thing.
