F/O Gowan, age 21, was Bomb Aimer on Lancaster LM261 Mk.1 which was delivered to 207 (RAF) Sqdn Jul44. The aircraft had taken part in the Key Raid against Deelen 15Aug44. No other operational history traced. When lost this aircraft had a total of 143 hours. LM261 was airborne 2104 11Sep44 from Spilsby on a night raid against Darmstadt, Germany.
Three members of the crew were members of the RAF. They were F/O (P) David Cooke, age 31; Sgt. (FE) A. H. Davies, age 21 and WO (WAG) J. M. Bingham, age 23.
The other Canadian crew members were:
F/O (N) Edward J. Brian, age 27, from Windsor, Ont.
F/O (AG) John J. Milne, age 30, from Toronto, Ont.
P/O (AG) Wilbur L.Moxley, age 19, from Moose Heights, B. C.

CIMETIÈRE DE GUERRE DE BOURG-LÉOPOLD Belgique
Le cimetière de guerre de Bourg-Léopold est à 58 kilomètres au nord-est de Louvain. À partir de la gare de Bourg-Léopold, tournez à droite sur la Nicolaylaan. Rendez-vous à l'intersection en forme de « t » et tournez à gauche sur la Koninklijkstraat. Conduisez sur une distance de 300 mètres et tournez à droite au Koning Albert I Plein. Faites 100 mètres et tournez à gauche à l'intersection en « T » puis à droite à la prochaine intersection en « T ». Faites 300 mètres. Vous arriverez alors au bout de la route. Tournez à gauche sur le domaine militaire. Le cimetière se trouve à 200 mètres plus loin, sur la droite.
