Fils de Henry E. et Mary C. (née White) Coldrey, de Carlington, Ontario. Frère de Eleanor, Margaret et Clifford. À l'occasion du 62e anniversaire (3 juin 1944 - 3 juin 2006) de l'écrasement du Lancaster LQ-C ND-507, qui coûta la vie aux commandant d'aviation George E. Coldrey, sous-lieutenants d'aviation David A. Kelley, Norman Johnston, J.G. Maurice Renaud et Leslie A. McCrea, un monument a été dévoilé en leur honneur à la Boissière-Ecole, en France.
Les invités à la cérémonie comprenaient l'ancien pilote allemand Frithjof Fensch, qui abattit l'avion, Edith Bannerman, la soeur de David A. Kelley, Pierre Monfette, le neveu de J.G. Maurice Renaud, et Lucinda Brouwer, la nièce de Leslie A. McCrea.
Tori Olson, la fille du lieutenant américain Leroy Q. Olson, Christopher O'Neill, le fils du capitaine d'aviation anglais John H. O'Neill, et George Court, le fils du capitaine d'aviation canadien George L. Court, tous des enfants des trois survivants de l'écrasement, étaient également présents à la cérémonie pour rendre hommage à leurs pères, qui sont tous décédés depuis 1995.
Les représentants de La Boissière-Ecole comprenaient le Maire François Heiliger, Fabien Drouin, adjoint principal du Maire, et le conseiller historique Fréderic Vincent, dont les recherches ont permis d'identifier et de commémorer les victimes de l'écrasement.

On June 3, 1944, five men were killed and two survived this plane crash. The five men that lost their lives were Pilot Officer Norman Johnston, Squadron Leader George Edwin Coldrey, Pilot Officer Leslie Asa Mccrea, Pilot Officer Joseph Gerard Maurice Renaud and Pilot Officer David Austin Kelley. Two men survived the crash.

Lancaster LQ-C Pathfinder, shot down June 2, 1944 Sqd.Ldr. Ted Coldrey's grave site at the French Village of La Boissiere Ecole, PO David Kelley is also buried there. Flt. Lts. GL Court and JH O'Neil survived the crash. Johnston Renaud and McCrea were buried in St. Cheron.

Operation "Berlin" Lancaster "J" damaged by Ju 88 & Fw.190 night of 2 Jan 1944 flown by Sqdn. Ldr. Edwin George Coldrey, crew fought off the attacking aircraft while pilot evaded the attack. The damaged aircraft made it back to Gravesend airdrome.

G.E. COLDREY's watch found 80 years after the crash. I am looking for the contact details of Richard and Edwin COLDREY, nephew of Georges COLDREY. We would like to organize a ceremony at La Boissière École to present this watch to them. Fabien DROUIN
