Awarded a Second Bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross (London Gazette, 9th July, 1943) The official citation reads: - "Squadron Leader Walker assumed command of this squadron at a difficult period and his fine leadership and excellent example were responsible for bringing it to its present very high standard of efficiency. He has been largely instrumental for the many successes achieved by the squadron and has himself destroyed at least four enemy aircraft and damaged others." He was the first member of the R.C.A.F. to be awarded a second bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross. Killed in a flying accident in England during a communication flight on 25th April, 1944. Wing Commander Walker was a son of Mr. J. Walker, O.B.E., Manager of the Bank at Edmonton.
