Veteran Community Consultation

Current status: closed

This consultation ran from 20 August 2018 to 7 September 2018.

VAC renewed our communications and outreach strategy for Veterans, currently-serving members of the Canadians Armed Forces (CAF), and their families. With this renewal, VAC’s overall objective was to ensure Veterans understand the range of well-being benefits and services that are available to them, and how to access those supports.

As part of VAC’s communications and outreach strategy renewal, we consulted with former CAF members and their families who did not currently receive support from the department. VAC wanted to learn why they were not approaching VAC for assistance, or conversely, why VAC was not reaching these Veterans and their families who may have been in need of our benefits and services.

The consultation set out to explore the following factors:

  • Do former CAF members know about the programs VAC offers?
  • Do they need/want VAC support?
  • Do they feel there would be a benefit to coming to VAC for support?
  • How would they like VAC to communicate and reach out to them in their post-military lives?

Who was the focus of this consultation

Veterans Affairs Canada engaged with:

  • Veterans
  • Veterans’ families.
