House of Commons

In May 2018, The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs tabled its 9th report, A Seamless Transition to Civilian Life For All Veterans: It’s Time For Action. The Committee’s report examined a soldier’s transition from military to civilian life and improving transitional support between the Department of National Defence and Veterans Affairs Canada.

  • Report 9 – A Seamless Transition to Civilian Life For All Veterans: It’s Time for Action was presented to the House on May 24th, 2018.
    • The Government Response to the Committee was tabled on July 18th, 2018 and provided a recommendation-by-recommendation update on progress made to address the committee’s concerns.

In February 2019, The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs tabled its 11th report, Indigenous Veterans: From Memories of Injustice to Lasting Recognition. The Committee’s report examined the services offered to Indigenous Veterans with a focus on the specific needs and issues faced by this population.

  • Report 11 – Indigenous Veterans: From Memories of Injustice to Lasting Recognition
    was presented to the House on February 8th, 2019.
    • A Government Response was requested and is due to be tabled within the 120 calendar day period as stipulated in the Standing Orders.

In June 2018, the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence-Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs tabled their report entitled From Solider to Civilian: Professionalizing the Transition. The Subcommittee undertook a comprehensive study on how to professionalize the transition from military life to life after service for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members.

  • Report 19 – From Soldier to Civilian: Professionalizing the Transition was presented to the Senate on June 13th, 2018.
    • The Government Response to the Committee was tabled on February 15th, 2019 and provided a recommendation-by-recommendation update on progress made to address the committee’s concerns.
