A Second World War Veteran, Mr. Albert Wallace is currently Director of the Toronto branch of the RCAF Ex-POW Association after having served as Chairman from 1992-2002. In addition to his official duties with the Association, Mr. Wallace assists less mobile Association members to attend social events, attends to those who are ailing and comforts surviving spouses suffering bereavement. For the past 15 years, Mr. Wallace has been a weekly volunteer at the Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre. He provides a valuable service, escorting patients by wheelchair to and from scheduled medical appointments. As a participant in the Memory Project, sponsored by the Dominion Institute, he shares his wartime experiences with local students. In appreciation of the assistance he and other prisoners of war obtained from the Canadian Red Cross in Germany during the Second World War, Mr. Wallace was a longtime blood donor.
