Alex Maurice

Mr. Maurice is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. He has been volunteering to help Aboriginal Veterans for several years. He is National President of the National Aboriginal Veterans Association (NAVA) and is also President of the Saskatchewan Chapter. Mr. Maurice attends numerous Aboriginal Veterans conferences throughout Canada and Saskatchewan and remains committed to establishing a home base for Aboriginal Veterans in Northern Saskatchewan. Mr. Maurice was instrumental in proposing and fundraising to have a permanent monument for Northern Saskatchewan and Beauval Veterans. The unveiling took place September 2, 2005 and was very well attended by Aboriginal as well as non-native Veterans. Mr. Maurice continues to attend Aboriginal Veterans conferences and in 2006, raised funds to host a Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and Aboriginal Veterans conference in Prince Albert. He is the recipient of the Queen's Silver and Golden Jubilee Medal, the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal, the United Nations Medal with two tours, the Peacekeeping Medal, and Dumont Silver Medal.
