Retired Lieutenant Colonel Rasmussen has been an active Director of the Friends of the Canadian War Museum for the past nine years. In this capacity, he has dedicated himself to helping the museum fulfil its mandate of remembering, preserving and educating. He has conducted numerous tours of the Canadian War Museum for both adult and children's groups, and has given presentations on the museum to various organizations to familiarize them with the museum's mandate and goals. Mr. Rasmussen has also served as the Deputy Campaign Director for the friends "Passing the Torch" campaign, working tirelessly on the fund-raising campaign to raise $15 million towards the construction of the new museum, which is now within two million dollars of its goal. He is an Associate Member representative on the Mess Committee of the Ottawa Army Officers Mess and also serves as Vice Chairman of the Ottawa Branch of the Royal Canadian Dragoons Regiment Association.
Lieutenant Colonel Rasmussen's untiring effort to perpetuate the memory of the sacrifice and achievements of Canada's Veterans has been an inspiration to his fellow citizens and to the Veteran community at large.
