Allan Symonds

Mr. Allan Symonds is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. He is a member of the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada Citadel Unit #373. Mr. Symonds has held several positions on the executive of his home unit and 2012 marks his 6th year as President. Under his leadership, many initiatives have been implemented regarding the well-being of Veterans, including hosting Veterans from Camp Hill Hospital where they are served a home-cooked meal along with dancing. Mr. Symonds is part of a committee tasked with studying how ANAVETS Unit #373 can begin the transition of hosting Veterans' functions at the Camp Hill Hospital site in consideration of the needs and requirements of aging Veterans. Under Mr. Symonds, a hand-painted mural has been set up at his ANAVETS Unit depicting service men and women from the First World War to the present day. Mr. Symonds parades at various Veterans events throughout the year, including Remembrance Day, 2nd Construction Battalion Memorial, the Battle of the Atlantic and the Second World War Annual Remembrance Church Service.
