Alphonse Gallant

Mr. Alphonse Gallant has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #171 since 1999. He was appointed to the executive one year later as a service officer and remained in that position for twelve years. As service officer, Mr. Gallant was a tireless advocate for Veterans. He took every possible opportunity to share his knowledge with Veterans and their families, helping to ensure forms were properly filled out and that they were accessing all the benefits and services to which they were entitled. Mr. Gallant also served on the Colour Party with the Legion, attending funeral services for Veterans in the community and surrounding area. He was very involved with the annual Poppy Campaign, canvassing for donations. During Veterans’ Week, Mr. Gallant has attended assemblies at local schools, commemorative ceremonies in the community and has also been part of the Colour Party which made special visits to two assisted living residences. Mr. Gallant continues to serve on the Colour Party when he is needed.
