André Marion

Mr. Marion is a Canadian Forces Veteran. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion since October 1968 and was president of Branch #79 from May 2004 until June 2007. In 2007, under Mr. Marion's leadership, Branch #79 organized a fundraising campaign to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan. A total of $9,000 was raised and delivered to soldiers at Valcartier who were leaving for Afghanistan in August of that year. M. Marion was the coordinator and president of the Royal Canadian Legion's provincial convention in May 2007. He is involved with other local Veterans' organizations and for many years has assisted hundreds of recruits from the St Jean sur Richelieu Garrison. Many of these recruits are from across Canada and Mr. Marion acts as a mentor and tour guide by taking them to key destinations in the St Jean and Montréal areas, as well as to various military functions. He has accompanied recruits more than one hundred times to the Pointe Claire National Field of Honour between May 2005 and November 2010. Mr. Marion is a frequent visitor to Veterans who reside at Ste. Anne's Hospital. He attends almost all local Veterans' funerals and offers comfort and support to family members.
