Arnold Mottershead

Mr. Arnold Mottershead is a retired Colonel of the Canadian Forces. He is an active member of many associations. Mr. Mottershead was a provincial commandant of the Legion of Frontiersmen and general officer commanding the Alberta Field Force II. He is a member of the Senate of the 15 Service Battalion and a member of the Canadian Intelligence and Military Police Association. He is currently President of the Army Cadet League's 19th Alberta Dragoon Cadet Corps. Mr. Mottershead lectures on the Regiment's history and their sacrifices in the South African War, and the First and Second World Wars. As a member of the South Alberta Regiment Veterans Association, Mr. Mottershead was responsible for having a memorial plaque made and placed in Holy Trinity Church in memory of all who served and those who lost their lives serving the South Alberta Regiment, the South Alberta Light Horse, the 19th Alberta Dragoons, and the Edmonton Fusiliers. When he was commander of the Edmonton Militia District, he promoted the affiliation of army units holding their Remembrance Day services with The Royal Canadian Legion within smaller Edmonton communities—a practice that continues to this day.
