Arthur Cuthbertson

Moncton, New Brunswick

Mr. Cuthbertson is a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was elected president of the Dieppe Military Veterans' Association in 1999, a position he held for seven years. Mr. Cuthbertson is credited with assisting the association to become financially viable, enabling the group to continue sponsoring Dieppe Army Cadets and provide bursaries to cadets and dependents of Veterans. In 2002, he helped raise funds to send 12 Veterans and cadets on an exchange visit to Dieppe, France. One of Mr. Cuthbertson's many significant accomplishments is having a park named after a Second World War Veteran, Laurie J. Cormier. Through fundraising, a monument was erected in the park in 2006 and a "Year of the Veteran" stone was installed. The park is used for commemorative events, and is much appreciated by Veterans. Another fundraising effort resulted in the purchase of a van for the Veterans' Special Care Home, which enables Veterans to travel to appointments and social functions. Mr. Cuthbertson is currently the secretary of his association and co-ordinates ceremonial services in partnership with the City of Dieppe.
