Arthur Haley

Mr. Haley is a Second World War Veteran who joined the Canadian Army in 1943 and served overseas in Europe. He joined the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 208 in 1995 and he took an active role on the Executive Committee, especially with the youth education program. He assists the local elementary and secondary schools in organizing their Remembrance Day services and he coordinates the participation of Veterans. During Veterans’ Week, he has regularly organized a special service at the Cenotaph for younger students. He has shown the same devotion in bringing the message of remembrance to elementary students in Hepworth and Sauble Beach as well as local scouts. He was guest speaker at the Branch’s 2005 Remembrance Day banquet and he also contributes a column in the local weekly Wiarton Echo. In recognition of his tireless efforts on behalf of the Legion, Mr. Haley was presented with a Life Membership.
