Mr. Arthur Plumb was admitted to Sunnybrook Hospital in 1987 and he became a tireless advocate on behalf of his fellow residents. Among several projects undertaken by Mr. Plumb during that time, he was responsible for raising funds purchase a bus in order to provide much appreciated outings for Veterans residing at Sunnybrook Hospital. He also single-handedly worked to raise funds for an outdoor patio at the George Hees Wing, allowing cognitively-impaired Veterans a safe, outside area to enjoy, as well as raising the funds for a greenhouse to supply fresh flowers, plants and vegetables for Veterans. He was instrumental in keeping the needs of Veterans in the forefront of the agenda of Senior Management at the Hospital. Every November, Mr. Plumb was a much sought-after speaker at schools to help create a deeper awareness of our military heritage among a younger generation.
