Aurore Crann

From the moment Mrs. Crann moved to Cassleman in 1994, she made it her duty to raise awareness of the sacrifice and contributions of Canada's Veterans. There were no commemorative events planned in Casselman prior to Mrs. Crann's arrival and local Veterans had to travel to Ottawa to participate in Remembrance Day activities. Gathering support within her community by visiting schools and local coffee shops, Mrs. Crann was able to organize a Remembrance Day ceremony in Casselman, as well as other commemorative activities. She has received assistance from, among others, members of the Ontario Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Knights of Columbus and local cadets. The ceremony attracts a large crowd every year, and is strongly supported by government officials. In addition to freely giving her time, Mrs. Crann has used her own financial resources to ensure these events are unique and special. A tireless supporter of her community, Mrs. Crann also spends considerable time volunteering at St. Francois' Senior Residence, helping with events and activities.
