Mr. Bernard Pepin is a Second World War Veteran who served in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mr. Pepin willingly offers his services to speak about Canada’s participation in the Second World War and is well known to the local media in the Montréal area. Mr. Pepin has generously given his time to the Dominion Institute’s Memory Project, visiting high schools and giving passionate descriptions of his war experiences. He is dedicated to ensuring youth are aware of the achievements of Veterans, the importance of Remembrance and the richness of Canada’s military history. Mr. Pepin has also agreed to provide testimonials at the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre, and from November 2004 to June 2005, he volunteered as was a guide at the McCord Museum. At the request of the Montréal office of Veterans Affairs Canada, Mr. Pepin agreed to be the regional spokesperson for the Year of the Veteran in 2005, and gave a number of interviews throughout this special year. Mr. Pepin plays an exceptional role in promoting within his community the contribution of veterans and the sacrifices they made.
